I wanted to give everyone a quick and dirty update on what has been taught in AviatorPro so far. I know there hasn’t been a lot of free content lately, and also that a lot of you are finishing up Aviator90 first, so I wanted to show you how the show has gone on.

Episode 1

Aircraft Engines

Starting out in AviatorPro I wanted to make sure that everyone is up to date and knowledgeable about all the aircraft systems we’ll be using. For this reason, the first lessons are about aircraft systems. In episode 1 I discuss the aircraft engine and how it differs from an automotive engine. The differences might surprise you!

========================================================================================

Episode 2

Cross Country I

Through Aviator90 is became very clear that the most popular part was the cross country flights. I felt like in this situation it was easiest to teach you the things that can come at you as an aviator, how to handle them, and also some lessons along the way. In this episode we fly a member picked flight from Kake, Alaska to Sitka, Alaska as I introduce you to advanced operation of the GPS and some engine parameters.

Episode 3

Comms101 Episode 1- Intro to ATC Communications

Starting out in AviatorPro I wanted to make sure that everyone is up to date and knowledgeable about all the aircraft systems we’ll be using. For this reason, the first lessons are about aircraft systems. In episode 1 I discuss the aircraft engine and how it differs from an automotive engine. The differences might surprise you!

========================================================================================

Episode 4

Instruments In Depth

Learn much more about the ‘basic 6′ instruments and why it is essential that you know how these instruments operate. These instruments are now going to be your main focus as you fly through AviatorPro and learn how to do instrument work.

========================================================================================

Episode 5

Cross Country II

Fly along with me as I do a real instrument flight. There is a lot of great ATC communication in this flight that makes for some interesting bits. Along the way, I share with you what is going on as it happens.

========================================================================================

Episode 6

Comms101 Episode 2- Controller Relationship

As an aviator you must know the relationship between the controller and pilot. It’s important to not only why you are such a huge part of it, but also what the controller is thinking and what he/she is expecting.

========================================================================================

Episode 7

Glass Panel Instruments

In Episode 4 we discussed the basic 6 instruments. Although they basic 6 instruments are by no means a thing of the past, they are not the way of the future. Enter into a Glass Panel cockpit as I show you the advantages to these new systems in a real aircraft, during a real flight at 17,000 feet.

========================================================================================

Episode 8

Cross Country III

This is a really simple episode set to music as I fly from Kansas City to Wyoming. There is a LOT of actual IFR in this video and some breathtaking scenes at cloud-top.

========================================================================================

Episode 9

Comms101 Episode 3- Pilot Relationship

Now that you have learned the controller part of the controller/pilot relationship, it’s now time to talk about what YOUR role is as a pilot and aviator based on what I have experienced in the real world. Some of my thoughts will surprise you.

========================================================================================

Episode 10

Advanced GPS Lesson

Although we touched on GPS navigation in Aviator90, it’s time to take your knowledge to a whole new level with this in depth look at the GPS system. The GPS is a major part of instrument navigation and can be used as a major aid to increase safety and instrument flight accuracy.

========================================================================================

Episode 11

Cross Country IV

This is the most extensive flight I have done a tutorial on to date. Way above and beyond anything that was in Aviator90 and AviatorPro yet, I plan this flight along with you and show you how I would have planned the flight in the real world. There are a lot of considerations to take into account and so we get very detailed during the flight. Oh yeah, after you leave the ground you’re going to see nothing but clouds until just a few seconds before it’s time to land ;)

========================================================================================

Episode 12

Comms101 Episode 4- The Myth of Mic Fright

Every Aviator, real or virtual, is a bit scared the first time they key the mic to talk publicly on a radio frequency. Here I discuss some of the reasons Mic Fright is even around, how to cure them, and why you shouldn’t even be scared in the first place.

========================================================================================

So, as you can see, we’ve been hard at work here at Angle of Attack and the AviatorPro Trainees, I dare say, are taking what they learned in Aviator90 to a whole new level.

This series is going to be Biblical!
