Very informative episode Chris! I can imagine the pressure in these type of situations. I like the example of promising the family to be home, then the weather becomes bad,you can’t make which = upset family. But as you told us, its better to be safe than sorry! Once again another great episode

Cheers

Alex

Glad you enjoyed it.

I’ve been told that flying is 90% knowledge and 10% how you control the aircraft. I have found that to be pretty much true. There is a ton of thought that not only goes into planning for the flight but handling things as they come.

Hey Chris,Yeah I can definitely see where a pilots ego could get in the way of smart aviation dicesion making,I’m sorry to bring it up but as soon as I started watching this I thought of the terrible JFK jr accident, very, very sad.I think he started the flight late and lost the sunlight and wasn’t qualified to fly IFR.Anyway thanks for anotherGreat thought provoking episode,Hey great to see you in your [Office] haha!
Cheers Bud!

Yes, that was a very sad situation. Talking about situations like that is of no disrespect to those who had trouble or their loved ones who are grieving. It’s just making sure we don’t go through all that again. It is important to learn lessons from situations like that, and also to learn how to not become a lesson ;)

Hi Chris!

I’ve been watching all of the episodes, great job so far, keep it up! :)
I was thinking of a question while watching this episode: how far should we (virtual pilots, decluding you) should go in taking decision making seriously? Because even if we do, we’ re not real pilots, all of this is “not happening”. I mean, we can only play the role of a pilot, live with it, but can’t live it for real, like you.
In other ways: how seriously do you take flying with FSX comparing to real-life situations? And do you find the game itself realistic, overally?

I guess it’s a kind of individual thing, but I’m curious about your opinion.

Honestly, I don’t take realism that far with FSX. I get uptight in real life enough that I need a break. I use Flight Sim as a place where I can practice really crazy stuff and also get a feel for the more difficult to control situations. I also believe MSFS is the best as doing instrument flight training.
