I’ll admit. I’m a total fanboy of PMDG.

Why? Because they offer exceptional Virtual Airliners way ahead of anyone in the market.

What is PMDG up to these days? Well, apart from their release of a couple exceptional alternate models for the 747 in the -800 and the LCF, they are working full bore on their new incarnation of the 737; the 737 NGX.

This aircraft is going to be AWESOME.

(Again, I’m a Fanboy)

But WHY is it going to be awesome and how do I know?

I only know because PMDG has always done amazing things in the past. No one can argue that. The record proves for itself. Amazing aircraft, second to none.

Additionally, with recent news from the team and great previews, we are seeing the latest in flightsim visual technology.

Right now we’re only seeing little glimpses of what is going to be offered, but it’s proving to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.

Just today Robert Randazzo, head of PMDG, put up a post on their forums explaining the amazing virtual cockpit that they are building and showing little previews.

(GO TO THE LINK HERE)

What really impresses upon me about this is the insane visual quality and the ‘used’ look. We are truly getting to a stage with FSX that is quite astounding, and PMDG is leading the way.

Below are some shots

(I encourage you to go to the above link and read Robert’s description. Much better than I could do! There is one last screenshot with framerates that is not included)

PMDG 737 NGX FMC Dust picture in the virtual cockpit

So there you have it.

The pictures speak for themselves. This is one of the most detailed VC cockpits I’ve ever seen. Assuming PMDG follows up as PMDG always does with a flight system like the real aircraft (which is really what they are best at) then this will be the greatest airliner addon for FSX to date.

Are you excited for the PMDG 737 NGX? Would you like to see Angle of Attack do training for the NGX starting release day?

  • KaCe_

Simply Fantastic & yes Im very Excited! PMDG are awesome, no doubt about that. The pictures were just the right type of teaser weren’t they? I want to see more :P

Yup Id definitely like to see Angle of Attack do some Training on the NGX, Its very exciting! =]

Thank Chris for the post, ur always keeping people in the loop on whats happening out there! I don’t always check out other Flightsim websites and I mostly get my news from you! Hey Chris the 737 NGX, what does the NGX stand for or mean? Which variant of the 737 is this aircraft?

    Kace

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Kace,
It’s based off of the 737 NG, which is the 737 with new Avionics and improved systems. PMDG added the ‘X’ because it’ll initially (and maybe only) be built for FSX only.

Glad you enjoy the news I put out there! It’s always great to have you around!

  • wedge

It looks awesome, I’m just doubting I’ll get the FPS they are showing :p but otherwise I can’t wait for it to be released.

I think NGX stands for Next Generation (NG) while the X is for FSX.

I really hope someday there will be a good Airbus add ons from any developer as for now I didn’t find yet a single one good enough for FSX which has only the Wilco one and I think they are very far from the level of the PMDG quality, I hope the one from FSLabs or AirSimmer will finally give birth to an equivalent for the European birds, as it seems much more boeing than airbus :p

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Beat me to it, Wedge.

I’m not normally an airliner fan, but I have great respect for the work that PMDG does. Their 737NG was one of my favorite planes in FS9, and I’ll definitely be getting it this time around, too. To answer your question, YES! Knowing PMDG’s penchant for ultra-realism, having AOA training available from day 1 would be a huge boon. Count me in!

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Right on,
You got it, BBQ man! ;)

  • signmanbob

I have no doubt that this 737NGX will set a new standard in FSX flight simulation.
Chris, I hope you are working on the instructional video.
It looks like the visual quality is at a level that hasn’t been seen in FSX. I’m sure the systems simulation will be just as impressive.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Thanks, Bob.

Totally agreed. It looks quite unbelievable.

  • Calvin Hill

Looks great! Can’t wait for it to come out.

  • Christian Fürst

PMDG has always been and will always be top notch in flightsim realism. Their 737NG was my favourite airliner in FS2004 and I did a lot of training – even online flightschool trainin – on it. Since I switched over to FSX completely I miss flying the 737 and I’m slightly losing experience.

So it would be absolutely great if PMDG is going to finish the next step in developing top level aircrafts. And yes, I’m very excited about that. And definitively YES: I’d love to have AOA right at my side in assisting me to go back to that airplane. Please do some of your fantastic video teaching that already helped me a lot with the 747 and the 767 (and MD11 coming very soon I hope).

AOA has a lot of experience in airliner training and you could evolve to the next level with PMDG on your side. I’m eagerly waiting for it.

    Throttle on!
    Christian

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Awesome! That’s one checkmark on the ‘yes’ side!

  • Ben Elder

I am definitely getting the new PMDG 737NGX when it arrives (as well as any other promised aircraft coming down the pike that they produce for that matter). This goes as well as any training material you put together. I just hope the new PMDG aircraft will be compatible with the new MS “Flight” that I just read about on your site. That was a total shock to see!!

ps: Just listening to the podcast FSBreak #54 where you comment on FS9 vs FSX. I have totally gone to FSX and fly very specifically to real world instrument standards (i.e. SIDS/STARs, etc. – I’m also a RWP) I am only assuming that “Flight” will be the next advancement in desktop flight simming!

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Awesome, Ben! It’s great to see you’re sharing the excitement along with the rest of us.

I’m not sure if we’ll see ‘Flight’ compatibility though. Hopefully it’s simply a whole new engine with ‘Flight’.

  • Tomaz Drnovsek

I’m waiting for this one for years!

  • Daniel Davison

Tough questions, tough questions. I’ll probably buy the 737NGX in the, oh, say, first 60 minutes it’s available. Hope that’s soon as it’s tough to pull out hair one does not have! AOA training on it: umm, I’d have to vote *heck yes*.

Is the training ready yet? :)
    dan

And an aside: on the MD-11 FMC, I can never figure how to get it to display the heading to the current waypoint and the waypoint after that. On the Honeywell displays the CTS is above the waypoint name. The MD-11 only displays the more distant waypoints.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Hey Dan,
Not sure what you’re specifically asking about the MCDU… I think I might know what you’re asking though, so I’ll take a look.

As for the 737, that’ll go down as a great day in FS history! I can’t wait.

  • Ben Elder

    Hey Chris,

Video of Flight looks awesome. Will be interesting to see what comes of that product. Still kinda shocked to see it’s announcement. I have been using Flight Sim since version 1.0 on my first Mac 512K and upgrade every generation. I would imagine there will be some cross compatibility based on the history of the franchise but who knows!

ps: I am a hugh PMDG fan as well. The J4100 is the best 3rd party aircraft I have ever seen! Coupled with FS2Crew it’s pretty amazing stuff for desktop flying!! Looking forward to see your training video for the 737NGX!!

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Keep an eye on us over the coming months. Hopefully we’ll have more news as things go on.

  • Konstantin

    Hey Chris,

I hope that I will be learning this aircraft with your tutorial like PMDG747 and in the near future PMDG MD-11 ;)

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

You can count on it ;)

  • Mark Stokes

Please please please, best ever airliner in FS9 cant wait for this with AOA training – who would want anything else??????

Keep up the great work Chris!

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

We are just as excited as you are!

  • Hayden

    Hi Chris,

As a Boeing sim pilot I think this one has to be purchased :)

A training DVD would be the perfect compliment to it.

    Hayden

  • http://737throttle.com Daniel Bryant

This looks like it will break new boundaries for flightsim.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/RotationFSX?feature=mhum Phil Mosley

    Hi Chris,

Cant wait for the 737 NG.

I hope you have the training ready for its release as they will go together like Salt and vinegar :)

    Look forward to it mate.

  • Ian

PMDG won me over with there 747X and I will definitely buy the 737 NGX no question about it.

  • Jlebesis

Definately very excited about this, and thanks guys for putting these snippets together, and that video of the cockpit walk through. Can someone tell me if there is even a rough timeframe on this? Im a huge fan of PMDG and their products, but I have to admit, as amazing as this 737 will be…they have really stretched it out, yet kept everyone mostly in the dark about it. That part I don’t agee with. A company with such loyal customers should do its clientele the small courtesy of at least announcing a rough month. Instead of saying it almost here, for about a year and a half now! Not having a dig guys, I will be buying this, but someone had to say it :) Happy flying!

  • http://www.flyaoamedia.com Chris Palmer

We aren’t privy to such information, and couldn’t tell you anyway. Do keep coming back here though, as we will continue to update with videos and news as we get it.
