In flight Video?
« on: July 18, 2010, 01:41:22 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm very new to FSX, have been doing the AOA Aviator90 tutorials - wow they are great!

I have also noticed some great scenery videos available on YouTube, and it got me to thinking, I would really like to crete some of my own very simple fsx flight videos, showing scenery and stuff.

What software do you guys think would be good to use for this purpose?

Chris mentions a camera add on pack for fsx, but is that all I need?  How do I actually make the fsx videos into real videos please?

Any help or thoughts would be great!

Thanks,

IPete2.

While i'm not an expert on video recording in FS, I do know of a software called "Fraps".  It's easy to use however the recorded files take up a lot of space..

Maybe someone else knows a better method?

Hey there Steve,

I have heard of Fraps thanks I shall look into it.

Regards,

Peter.

[Edit - Wow - Fraps: I tried the demo and was impressed so I bought the full package - it's amazing quality - I am now uploading my first video Sunset flight out of Barton Airfield, UK - in HD I will post a link tomorrow ]

Hey guys,

I managed the whole process.  I got Fraps, ran FSX, loaded REX 2.0, and I should say that I stopped videoing half way so it stops rather abruptly, and there is no sound - I haven't worked that bit out yet.

Anyway here it is:

Lol - I hope you enjoyed my little efffort.  A lot more to come I hope.

FRAPS is a good program however it is damn heavy, I got from 75FPS to 50 when recording on FS9, not sure about FSX though

Fraps does a good job actually - I'm pretty impressed with the results I'm getting.

I have now managed to create three videos - on the link:

I am thinking about starting a short video series quite soon, I am now formulating a little plan based around flying some little journeys in the UK (well mainly England and Wales).

I'll keep you guys posted.
