Well, at long last the curtains have parted and the Airsimmer A320 is now available for purchase by the public outside of the Extended (Beta Test) Team.
Called the "Basic" edition, the current release evidently does
not include FMGS functionaLity in the Climb/Cruise/Descend modes, meaning that the PROG page of the MCDU is disabled. With that limitation in mind, I thought I'd go ahead and ask here if anyone has yet acquired this A320 and put it through sufficient flight testing to form an opinion as to how this product compares with say the much-ridiculed Wilco or Arianne Airbus renderings.
I am also curious to learn if there are any obvious CTD issues that occur during a normal flight regime. Regarding the FMGS, I would appreciate hearing if conditional waypoints can be plugged in, and how precisely the Airsimmer A320 follows the green flight path so created, within the limitations of the features currently enabled.
Also, how accurately does the Airsimmer A320 capture and follow the glide slope in ILS approaches ? Can this bus perform smooth coupled autolands with no surprises ? Personally I would be content for now with the facility to program the MCDU for short flights, and to execute nice autolands or hand-flown ILS approaches.
I do realize this product has only been on sale for a couple of days now, but still there is no harm in asking for some early user sneak previews of this Basic Edition, in the interim before the fully functional Advanced Version is ready for sale, now that the veil of secrecy has been lifted on the Extended Team program.
Well, has anyone here tried her out yet ? I would like to think that even the Basic Edition Airsimmer A320 is preferable to the other mass-produced A320 flight sim offerings already available, but it sure would be nice to hear from anyone who has already experimented enough to arrive at an informed comparison and product review.
