I hope you’ve enjoyed this preview! Isn’t that HD quality just awesome?

In the coming days I’ll be sharing exactly what else comes with this training, in addition to some Bonuses that will be offered.

Next up, I’m going to be sharing a Free MCDU Tutorial with you. Although this is a simple example of the full training we’re going to offer on the subject, I believe you’ll see exactly how powerful these videos can be to finally get you ahead of this amazing MD11.

Glad you like it! I can’t believe you watched it 3 times. I am still a bit amazed by it too, though. Not bragging or anything, I just like how it’s turned out.

    • Ray Marshall

Chris, this intro takeoff tutorial is very well done. I am impressed with the HD video and great sounds. Have you considered doing a version with Bryan York using the FS2Crew for the PMDG MD-11x to accomodate the 2 man crew for the MD-11? Now, that would be truely awesome.

      • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

        Not a bad idea!

  • http://www.ico.ch/flightsimulator Rolf Eichenberger

    Hi Chris,

This is an amazing video, thanks a lot for this brilliant preview. I’ll stop my work right now and go for hand flying the MD-11. It’s always great to have an Flight Simulator in the office ;-)

    Cheers,
    Rolf

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Haha, sounds awesome. How do you have a flight simulator in the office?!

      • http://www.ico.ch/flightsimulator/ Rolf Eichenberger

Just click on my name or this link http://www.ico.ch/flightsimulator/ to see the decent Flight Simulator at my office ;-)

  • Henk Barkhof

Indeed awsome and a very instructive movie. How long will this movie be accessible or is thee a way we can download it ? Anyway , thanks a lot , Chris !

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

I don’t plan on taking this down. It should continue to be accessible.

Members of the actual course will get the downloads for all episodes.

  • Zsolt Monostori

    Hi Chris!

This is truly amazing! Should I mention the HD kicks ass, seriously, this one’s gonna be a must have for all PMDG MD11 owners! Great stuff!

    Cheers,
    Zsolt

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Glad you enjoy it! Feel free to spread the word!

  • Pete Marnick

Just awesome! Cannot believe the quality and the detail of that tutorial. Makes me want more now. Looking forwards to the next chapter in the ever evolving world of AOA and flight simulator. Thanks Chris.

Hehe, the ever evolving world of AOA and flight simulator, nice!

There is PLENTY where that came from.

  • Peter

Great video. Picked up on a couple of things i wasn’t aware of already. Can’t wait for the full training to start. Love this AC but need help to really get the most out of it. This is where AOA comes in!

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Awesome! I’m glad you have already found something useful, that’s a good sign!

  • Dave Taylor

Very, very good Chris and thank you but, I am worried that you are showing too much in these previews? The sort of people, like myself, will buy this program anyway because we love the MD-11.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Of course man! Don’t worry, I’m not showing too much. This is a mere glimpse of what we’re going to have in the full training.

  • http://www.pa7rm.nl Rob-PA7RM

Great introduction. I’m more a VFR flyer, the smaller stuff, but this is well be explained. Always good to see what the procedure would be. Great info. Keep on going.

  • Christian Fuerst

I’m so terribly awaiting the full AOA course that I check the subscription page for full MD11 access every day.

I already posted this at different places: your videos are undoubtedly top notch quality and HD really strucks the eye. Together with PMDG’s racehorse this is a must have combination.

I count the days for the doors to open wide.
    Throttle on, man!
    Christian

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

I would definitely say that’s terribly awaiting it! I hope you’re the first one in, but I have a feeling you’re going to have to fight a lot of other people for that top slot ;)

  • Laurie

    Hi folks,
Just viewed the video and was really impressed with not only the quality, but the depth of instruction given. I look forward to the finished product. Even at 74, which I am, it is very easy to assimilate the instruction. Keep up the good work.

It’s great to have our UK viewers excited for this as well! You’ll be happy to know that we actually have someone from the UK on the team that has been very instrumental in getting this MD11 out there.

In a way, this is a USA product just as much as a UK product ;)

  • signmanbob

That is outstanding Chris. I will be also watching it a few times.
Looks like I have to brake out my MD11 again. Haven’t flown it for a while. I hope Bryan York will make his FS2Crew Voice Command for it because that is what I’ve been hooked on here lately. But I will definitely take my MD11 out of storage now.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

It’s a beautiful airplane. It deserves a nice, fresh paint.

  • Alan

Great stuff Chris! You’ve got a winner here!!!

      Thanks, Alan

  • Sander

Wonderful stuff! I too have already learned some things that I wasn’t quite aware of. Can’t wait for the full package!

    Keep up the good work!

  • M.Rahim

Great! I haven’t ventured into the MD-11 yet although I do love that bird. After watching this, i might have to get one :)
Love your 767 & 744 DVD’s and this looks like another great training course. I also noticed how smooth this video is compared to the previous two titles. Did you upgrade your PC? Please tell us your specs

    Thanks

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Part of the reason the MD11 has taken a while to produce (for those of you that have been following) is because I didn’t want to do it on my own anymore.

What you’re seeing in this particular video was shot by a new, awesome member of the team named Nick. He did a fantastic job.

I too upgraded my PC and have shot some of the footage, but to be fair, this is Nick’s footage.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com Nick Collett

As Chris said I flew this one, I’m running an i7 920 at 4GHz, 4GB CAS7 RAM, GTX 280. We set FRAPS to record at 30fps, but on the takeoff roll for this one the frames were probably around the 20fps level. It’s surprising that even though it might feel very jerky in FSX when fraps is recording, the footage comes out great!

      • M.Rahim

thanks for the info. yeah it was very smooth indeed. So what you’re saying is, it’s jerky only while recording…..correct?
i have a QX9650 and I’m probably going to be building a new machine in a few months using a i7-980x. I already have a GTX 480 (found a good deal on ebay so I jumped on it). But now my CPU is showing it’s age with all these fine addons I have for FSX.

        • http://www.flyaoamedia.com Nick Collett

Yes, I generally find that when actually recording with fraps, the video appear jerky when recording, but the actual output file can be pretty smooth as you see here.

As for your computer upgrade, if you really will be waiting ‘a few months’ before doing it, it might be a good idea to wait for the next intel microarchitecture, ‘Sandy Bridge’. This will be based on a new socket (2011 pins), and will probably be a better bet for you in terms of future proofing! That should be coming along later this year/early next year.

          • M.Rahim

“sandy Bridge” ? Wow that’s the first I’m hearing of that! I guess I’m really out of the loop these days…lol. Now I’ll have to do some research, thanks for the tip

  • signmanbob

Chris, have you decided how you’re going to offer this MD11 course? Will it be a one time fee for full access or is it something that will also be a monthly charge? I know that you said that you will not offer DVD sets any longer.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Bob,
This is a bit ahead of where I’m revealing things right now, but this will be a 1 time fee for the product, not monthly, and it’ll be online where we can take advantage of a lot of things to improve the experience. Hope that answers your questions simply and clearly.

  • Leif Mikkelsen

Very nice indeed in HD! The handflown departure was indeed great skill from AOA.
Something I never have made, even if I´ve flown her very often since here first release day.
Looking forward to the complete training, since I´m sure, there´s something new to learn even
if I gone through those 2 PMDG Tutorials, countless of times in the past.

GREAT WORK AOA! (even if I think, it took way to long, before completion of the videos)

    / Leffe

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Thanks, Leffe!

  • col

Chris your work is fantastic, am loveing the md11 and can’t wait to get down to knowing how to operate it to a high standard. Tho could you please say if I log on to the training is it possible to download and run off a dvd player as it would be good to have it run alongside the sim when learning. I look forwrd to more of you work, and very well done

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Col,
We’re a bit ahead here… Signup for the emails above (if you aren’t already). As a teaser, I have an AWESOME Bonus that’ll fix your issue. ;)

  • Kjetil Salvesen

Great! This is flightsim! This is quality…AOA and PMDG are on equal.

    Throttle On!

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Whooooooooaaaa, not sure I can take the pressure on that one! To put AOA and PMDG in the same category might be a bit too much! But we sure are proud of what we’ve done.

      Thanks!

      • signmanbob

I agree with Kjetil. What you have done with Angle of Attack is definitely the “PMDG” of instructional courses for flight simulator.
Chris, when you said over a year ago, that you weren’t satisfied with the way AoA was heading, I though “Well, what in the world are you going to do any different?”. I have to say now that you have been quite innovative and creative in re-thinking and re-making AoA into what it is today and in such an amazingly short time.
Now with the MD11 product looking so near and so fantastic, I not only look forward to seeing its completion, but am also looking forward to the PMDG 737NGX AoA course which will be the coup d’état of instructional videos, that will make PMDG’s masterpiece so very complete.

        • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Bob, wow… I’m really glad you noticed that things have changed a lot- and for the better. I’ve never worked this hard in my life, but I’m also never had this much fun.

Now I’m here in Alaska, doing AOA full time for the first time, and for the first time I’m really hopeful that this whole thing can be successful well into the future.

With that said, I couldn’t do it without individuals and fans just like you.

          Throttle on, my friend.

          • signmanbob

My Alaskan friend, I’ll keep throttling as long as your pumping fuel (:
I know that it has taken a long time to make this MD11 video (as did the previous videos). Now that you are doing this full time, do you think it is going to mean turning out similar quality videos series (like the NGX) in less time?

        • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Bob, since I can’t respond on your other comment, I’ll put it here.

To be 100% completely honest, all the sections that have been done on the MD11 have been done in the last month. YES. THE LAST MONTH.

This is due to me going full time, and also the addition of an AWESOME guy, Nick Collett, whom I’ll be introducing soon.

So yes… More content faster ;)

          • signmanbob

That’s is amazing Chris. It will be interesting to see the continuing transformations in AoA now that you are with it full time.

          • Mark Tuma

Great video, almost enough to make me want to buy the MD11 itself!

If you do think of the NGX next, can I suggest you consider covering the iFly bird in the same course?

  • Kjetil Salvesen

    AOA and PMDG,hand in glove.

  • michael

Hi, that was absolutely brilliant video, I was amazed at the footage in HD and the quality of the aircraft and Tarmac and surrounding buildings very realistic, it is not very often that all three elements, aircraft, ground and sky, are so realistic, or so the flight deck very professionally presented, whoever put the programme together, spent a lot of time getting it right, well done.
    Michael.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

You’d be surprised just how long it took. Although the elements of the tutorial took a long time, actually putting it together wasn’t that bad.

We are firing on all cylinders now and really pushing out great stuff each and every day.

  • jesper barkman

Thanks a lot for an outstanding preweiw. The combination PMDG-AOA seems to be a perfect match. Have You been cooperting with licensed pilots for the different airliners your courses comprise?
I can´t wait to see the whole course. But I sure wish You will reconcider issue a DVD-version maybe with an option to exclud music. It´s nothing wrong with the music but Your instructoins may come out better in some cases if there was an otion to switch the music off. A scandinavian with hard of hearing would get out a bit more that way. But so far Your courses are the best.

    jesper

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      Jesper,
We no longer include music during instruction, like in the 767 training. Nor do we have music during instruction in the 747 training.

I doubt we’ll reconsider the DVD product.

If you are on the MD11 email list, I’ll be giving you a ‘preview’ of the members area. This may make you feel better about it.

  • Bruce

    Quality, quality, quality.

Personally I’m not into heavies but should this change I sure know where to come for some training. For now it’s back to Aviation Pro.

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

      ;)
Thanks Bruce. Always great to see your name around here.

  • James Becker

This is a very well done video.Great graphics!!!Will a version of this fantastic AOA texture be available?

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Just wait James! If you’re part of the email list, you already have a slot in the paint booth ;)

  • Konstantin

Wow! Great video, quality is very good! I like your PMDG 747 training, so I decided to buy this one. I hope, this product will be in Russian shops.
Greetings from Russia and sorry for my English if it’s not so good! :)

  • signmanbob

Just curious, if your not mailing, how will we get our cool AoA/MD11 checklist?

    Hi chris,
    Wow great video… I hope it’s comming out soon… Can’t wait… Lol
But after watching it for the … time I couldn’t help noticing, when you talk
About nogotiating the turn, you talk about the passengers in the back… You didn’t notice you’re flying a cargo livery?

    • http://www.flyaoamedia.com/ Chris Palmer

Of course we noticed. But this training is for both the -F and PAX version. This means that we can teach all the aspects and make you aware of the different situations.
