Beating the Storm… Or Wait

Read Time= 2 Minutes The nice thing about being a private pilot, or corporate pilot for that matter, is that the schedule is pretty flexible. That flexibility paid off yesterday. I’ve been gone away from home quite a bit lately. … Continued

Routine Maintenance in Flight Sim

My experience with A&Ps (airframe and powerplant certified mechanics) is that they are very professional, almost always thorough, and do a great job. They are usually finding a lot more things wrong than a pilot would see on the surface. That’s not to say they are unethical of sticking you with a larger bill, but it is saying that they are there to do their best. 6 Very Useful Flight Sim Finds

These are links and tools I’ve really been enjoying lately. I hope you find these tools and sources of information useful.

Kick the Tires and Light the Fires

Sometimes it is time to get in the dang airplane and go! I know there are a ton of cool little tools out there that you want to use in your flightsim. But sometimes, too much planning keeps you on the ground longer, with little benefit to the actual flight. Stop wasting your time with the latest AIRAC update, planning the perfect VFR flight, or preflighting the airplane in flightsim, when you know it’s perfect.

CGUMPS

This is your pre-landing checklist. This is used primarily for a general aviation aircraft. We’ll now go over what the different items are, and end with some final notes on why these things are important.

Proper Usage of Virtual Aircraft Lights

I like to keep things simple. For that reason, I’m going to list what lights you’ll be operating, and also when and why.
This whole aircraft lighting subject may be something you’re confused about as a virtual pilot, so let’s clarify.

What REALLY Makes a Great Landing

There is a resounding obsession within aviation that a nice, smooth, soft landing is the sign of a great pilot. This is the ultimate sign that the pilot is skilled. A pilot can easily achieve a spontaneous round of applause from the cabin if he touches down as softly as your head hitting your pillow.
